Welcome to the Ganado EMS hompage.
The City of Ganado is a rural community (pop approx. 1700) located next to Lake Texana in Jackson County, Texas. US Highway 59 runs through the heart of Jackson County and Ganado sits on US Highway 59. We are about 30 miles north of Victoria and 90 miles south of Houston. Ganado is primarily a farming community where milo, corn, cotton, rice and other agri products are grown.
Ganado EMS is an all volunteer service, established in 1976, to provide emergency medical services to the City of Ganado and the rural areas surrounding Ganado.  We have 2 Type I units with MICU capabilities.  We have a staff of 2 Paramedics, 4 EMT-I's, and numerous EMT's & ECA's.

A reminder to our our parents and to our kids.
911 is for an emergency only.
Reasons to call 911:
1. House is on fire or smoke in the house.
2. A medical emergency, such as someone falling and hurting their leg.
3. A car or truck accident.
Or any life threatening emergency.

Reasons that you should not call 911 for:
1. Your dog got loose.
2. You need a telephone number.
3. You have a water leak.
4. Your cable television is out.
There are many reason why you shouldn't call 911 and these are just a few. If you call for such non-emergency things, you are tying up a 911 line that someone else who truly has an emergency may need. Non-Emergency calls for anywhere in Jackson County that you need the police, fire dept. (such as controlled burns) or EMS (such as a non-emergency transfer) should be directed to:

361-782-3541 or
361-782-3538

Ganado EMS is proud to announce it has aquired a second Frazerbilt Type I ambulance. In December 2003, we took delivery of our 2004 Type I generator equipped ambulance. The unit replaces an existing 1994 Road Rescue ambulance. This new unit make two Frazerbilt Type ! units that GEMS owns and operates. Both of these units are fully equipped, MICU capable and are state of the art. Both units are essentially "mobile ER's" with the latest pre-hospital care equipment, such as the Lifepak 12. The Lifepak 12 is a defibrilator / patient monitor that performs a host of functions all in one instrument.

Ganado EMS pledges to continue to offer the best pre-hospital patient care available to it's citiznes.

GEMS thanks all of it's citizens for their continued support.
